As your new Vice President of the North Carolina
Region please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Randy Stone and I
am looking forward to an exciting year here in the Old North State. I
have been a member of the National AACA and the NC Region off and on
since 1979. Business concerns kept me from my hobby for some of those
years but that perseverance paid off as I am now retired and looking
forward to having some good old car fun.
Many of you know me from the Judging schools and
Mustang CJE classes I have taught over the years. I hope to continue
those classes and help the younger judges get acquainted with the AACA
judging system and America’s favorite car – The Mustang!
Region
- We kicked
off 2008 in a successful way as our NC Region annual meeting went very
well. Our new format, located in Burlington, was well received and our
usual attendance was at least doubled as a result. I hope more of you
are able to come next year as we intend to have similar seminars and
some new things to help us enjoy our hobby. We won’t have many regional
meet activities until April but it heats up quickly then. Catawba, Cape
Fear and the Spring Region Meet in Raleigh are all in quick succession.
Please let me know of any changes to your meet schedule for 2008. I will
be in contact with each of our chapters to confirm, and get a few
additional details of your scheduled meets.
National
– The Annual
Meeting in Philadelphia will begin the second weekend in February. If
you haven’t attended this before you should try to do it sometime. We go
very quickly into the National schedule with a dual Meet in Melbourne
Florida. The Grand National is on Friday, March 14 and a National Meet
will be held at the same location on Saturday March 15. Get your hotel
and car registrations in as this promises to be a huge event. Just a few
weeks later we have the first in what we hope to be an annual event; a
National Meet at the Charlotte Auto Fair. Our friends in the Hornets
Nest Region are trying to put together a National Meet as part of their
Spring Auto Fair. I believe this event will be very well attended so get
your reservations in early.
As a member of both the National AACA Board of
Directors and the NC Region Board of Directors I am in a position to be
able to help our members with questions and concerns
they might have about our club. Please feel free to send me your
questions about old cars, judging, club procedures etc . . . I will
publish your questions and my answers so all of our members can benefit.
You can either e-mail me at rlstone@bellsouth.net or write me at 151
Wolfetrail Road, Greensboro, NC 27406. I promise you that if I don’t
know the answer I’ll track down someone who does.
