hank
you for allowing me to work for this awesome group -- the NC Region;
it’s an honor and a privilege. We have a busy and exciting year ahead of
us and I am looking forward to it! I also look forward to working with a
very dedicated group of Officers and Board members.
We started
out the new year with a brand new Annual Business Meeting. It was held
in Burlington at the Ramada Inn. I want to thank Randy Stone for
formatting the event much like Philadelphia with the National Judging
School on Friday and several seminars on Saturday. According to David
Devine, Randy did such a good job that he even included the weather!
Even with the cold and forecast of snow, we had a great turnout. If you
didn’t make it to Burlington, you missed out, but you don’t want to miss
it next year because the seminars were interesting and informative and I
have heard a lot of positive comments about the event.
It was approved at the NC
Region Board meeting in Burlington to set up our Board along the lines
of the National Board; therefore, each Board member would be assigned a
role by the elected President at the General Membership meeting. I am
glad to say that several of the Board members stepped up to the plate
and volunteered for the listed responsibilities. Thanks to each and
every one of you for making my job easier.
We have a full calendar
this year. The NC Region in a joint effort with Alamance Region has put
together a terrific agenda for the Sentimental Tour in June. A big thank
you to Alamance Region and the NC Region members that have participated
in planning this event! The Region Spring Meet will be in Raleigh at
Historic Oakview, hosted by Triangle Chapter. The Region Fall Meet will
be in Spencer at the NC
Transportation Museum, hosted by Furnitureland Chapter. Both Chapters
have proven in the past to put on awesome shows. There are also 10
Chapter Shows on the calendar. Don’t forget to get out and support your
fellow Chapters! I can’t stress enough how important it is that we
support one another in this hobby. In addition, Three Rivers Chapter is
planning a summer social for the members of the NC Region at the NC
Transportation Museum. The plans are not definite yet, but keep an eye
out for future announcements.
I would like to see this
Region do more tours. We had a tour back in 2004 to celebrate the NC
Region’s 50th Anniversary that proved to be very successful. If any
Chapter would like to volunteer to sponsor a Region Tour, just let us
know. I am convinced you would get a large turnout. We love to drive and
ride in those old beauties! I want your comments, suggestions, and
advice; let me hear from you!
