All Aboard! A custom train display is scheduled to roll out at the Antique Auto Museum at Hershey on November 15, 2008. It’s yet another opportunity to cruise through time – on rails -- at the AACA Museum during the holiday season.
Travel back in time as these locomotives take you to “Tuckerville, USA” the Museum’s vision of small-town America in the 1950s. There are stores, factories, shops, a farm, and a railroad yard that features an automated turntable and locomotive repair shop. Other automated features include a gas station, Ford garage, a Drive-In restaurant and construction site complete with bulldozers. For our younger visitors, Thomas the Tank Engine is a popular attraction. Tuckerville is surrounded by rails, on which run a variety of vintage model trains manufactured by Lionel and Williams, Rail King and now Bachmann in a combination of O-gauge and HO-gauge sizes.

The AACA Museum is again teaming up with Carry the Light Ministries of Mechanicsburg to help sponsor a Food & Toy “DRIVE”. The goal of the “DRIVE” will be to provide about 50 (hopefully more) needy families in the community with groceries and toys to help throughout the holiday season. An antique pick up truck is parked in the Museum’s lobby and we’re looking to fill the truck with items for families in need.

Exactly 100 years ago to the day, the first Model T rolled off the line at Ford’s Piquette Avenue in Detroit Michigan. The automobile was in its infancy and new cars were emerging from upstart companies all over the world - few people took notice of this unadorned, sturdy little car. Little did the world know that history was about to be made. After years of struggling, Henry Ford had finally got it right. He was about to put America and the world on wheels and ultimately change our social landscape forever. “We are thrilled to be hosting this celebration 100 years to the day after the first Model T rolled off the assembly line,” says Norm Hutton, Vice President of the AACA Museum. “The centennial anniversary has generated a lot of enthusiasm, so we’re anticipating a great day here in Hershey.”

General Motor’s Turbine Firebirds Are Coming to Hershey
Legendary Harley Earl designed Dream Cars at the Antique Auto Museum September 23 through October 12
Fifty years ago, before the internet, television and modern mass marketing transformed how we shop for our cars, America’s automakers went to great lengths to dazzle the public with their annual offerings. Each year, the new designs would make their debut to much fanfare and public excitement. Dealer’s often papered their windows in anticipation of the crowds that would lineup outside for a first look at a much anticipated new model or the redesign of a best-selling favorite.
While all the major automakers built dream cars for the auto shows, the best known and probably the most enduring came from GM in the 1950s. GM took the concept to its highest level by creating the Motorama, an all-General Motors show that traveled across the country in convoy of 125 tractor trailers complete with stage hands, singers, actors, musicians and technicians. Of course, the real stars of this show were the cars. Initially designed in large part by Harley Earl, General Motors legendary first styling chief, these vehicles were offered as a glimpse into the corporation’s and America’s automotive future.
