Indianapolis Motor Speedway

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway was conceived in 1908 by Carl Fisher, who was also the co-owner of Prest-O-Lite. 

The first race at Indianapolis Speedway did not involve cars. Was it a race for hoses, balloons, or motorcycles?
