History
In 1964 fifteen Pinellas County, Florida, people applied to
become a chapter of the Florida Region, Antique Automobile
Club of America, in Winter Haven. A President, Vice
President, Treasurer, Secretary and a name had to be selected. It was decided on
the West Coast Chapter. Florida Region approved and the papers were sent to
National. They approved us and we officially became a Chapter February 4, 1965.
In 1972, we applied to become a Region. The Florida Region
approved and sent our papers to National, which approved our Club as the Florida
West Coast Region on February 4, 1973. The last President of the West Coast
Chapter was Steve Wooldridge, and the first President of the Florida West Coast
Region was Harold Walter.
Our region has also sponsored the approval of the Hillsborough Region in
Tampa and the Richey Region in New Port Richey. We hosted a National Show in
February 1989 and in February 1998. February 1998 also marked our 25th
Anniversary as a Region. We still have two active members who are charter
members since 1964.
