Senate Bill # 612 became law on January 1, 1994 and amended G.S. 20.79.2.
by adding section 8 - see below. |
G.S. 20-79.2
To drive a motor vehicle that is at least 25 years old to and from a
parade or another public event and to drive the motor vehicle in that
event. A person who owns a motor vehicle that is at least 25 years old is
considered to be in the business of collecting those vehicles
This bill allows owners of cars 25 years or older to
purchase a special tag, called a Transporter tag, which allows them the
right to drive their vehicles to and from car shows, parades, and similar
functions. This tag may be used on multiple vehicles as long as insurance
is maintained on each. You may get an application from your local
Department of Motor Vehicles.
The cost of the tag is $10.00 and is good for one
year.
Note: If you buy this type of tag,
you're required to list the cars on your personal property tax. Be sure
to check out the section on comparing taxes and your antique motor
vehicle.
